County of Fortune is a medieval county builder from Nepos Games, published by Aquila Interactive. Nepos Games is the studio behind the medieval city builder Kingdoms Reborn. You play a lokator, a medieval colonizer and noble steward handed a blank stretch of kingdom, and your job is not one town but a whole region: place settlements on a medieval grid, let them grow from hamlet to town and city, and knit them together with rivers, roads and trade.
What separates it from the city builders it sits beside is the second layer. Named mayors with their own traits, skills and flaws run each settlement. Every mayor belongs to a noble house, and rival houses weave politics across the region, applying political and economic pressure to the choices you make. Settlers arrive as migrating cultures, bringing customs that grant bonuses, tensions and their own identity. Three layers of characters, one county, and a different story each run.
